Features Music Calendar, Live Music Venues, New Artists, and More
Memphis, TN … The Memphis Rock ‘n’ Soul Museum and the Memphis Music Hall of Fame announce the launch of the Memphis Music App, the first app dedicated solely to the Memphis music scene both past and present. Available for iOS and Android, the free Memphis Music App promises to be a valuable resource for both Memphians and tourists alike.
Developed by eBiz Solutions with support from ArtsMemphis, the ever-expanding Memphis Music App provides an extensive single-source for all Memphis music related events, activities, and news. A “Memphis Music Events” feature provides dates, times, locations of music events throughout the Memphis area, including a full description of the act or event and links to related websites. “Live Music Venues” provides tourists and Memphians alike with a comprehensive list of clubs throughout the Memphis area which regularly offer live music, as well as a description of each and its music and links to the club’s website. “Music Attractions” offers a description of each, links to their website and phone number and an interactive map for directions.
“We’re really excited about the ‘New Memphis Music’ feature,” said John Doyle, Rock ‘n’ Soul and Memphis Music Hall of Fame Executive Director. “For years we have enjoyed promoting Memphis’ rich musical history, but we’re equally committed to the perpetuation of today’s explosive Memphis music scene.” The “New Memphis Music” feature introduces visitors to many of today’s artists, complete with biographies, genre, links to artist websites and, most important, audio samples of the artists’ music. “We hope that other Memphis musicians request being added,” said Doyle, “And hope that Memphians, as much as tourists, familiarize themselves with these artists, attend their performances, and support them.”
The Memphis Music App’s “All About Memphis” feature also shares antidotes about the many things which make the city great (like barbecue, festivals, St. Jude) and unique (like pandas, ghosts and Sivad!). For fun, Appers can test their Memphis music knowledge with two interactive features: “Memphis Music Trivia” and “Finish the Lyrics.”
“As Memphis continues to attract millions of visitors to our city on an annual basis, many of whom come here to explore our rich musical heritage, we felt that it was imperative to create a simple and engaging app that will assist both tourists and local citizens in finding the must-see music attractions and venues that our great city offers,” says Rock ‘n’ Soul Program Manager Ezra Wheeler.
The Memphis Music App is now available as a free download on the Apple App Store and the Android Market. Both museums have plans to incorporate the Memphis Music App into their guest experiences. More information is available at www.memphisrocknsoul.org/memphismusicapp. Memphis musicians interested in being added to the app’s “New Memphis Music” feature, or any requests for additions to “Memphis Music Events,” “Music Attractions,” “Live Music Venues” or other app features can be sent via email to firstname.lastname@example.org
